Mitosis

Mitosis
After learning the steps of mitosis, my students are tested in  the following way: They are divided into co-op groups of 4 or 5 and are instructed to design a front cover for a newspaper (using 1 side of  white posterboard). They must have the following:

1. Title, price, edition, date, etc.
2. 2 or more "teaser" headlines.
3. 2 or more creative articles (they can be as outlandish as they want)
4. Main Article- Explains the process of mitosis and how it fits in to the cell cycle.
5. At least 6 colored illustrations, each with a caption:
   • 1 for each step of mitosis
   • 1 for the cell cycle

The kids love it! It allows for creativity and flexibility. Makes a great evaluation tool and wonderful posters to display in the school!
